Sharon Mar Adams, Ph.D., is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Arts & Sciences Residential Academic Programs and Associate Director of the Environment & Natural Sciences RAP. Her interdisciplinary teaching and scholarship bring together philosophy, religious studies, gender studies, environmental studies, and the arts, with particular interests in phenomenology, aesthetics, philosophical pedagogy, and the relationships among human experience, the natural world, and ways of knowing.

Her teaching explores fundamental questions about how we understand ourselves and the world around us, including how different philosophical, religious, and cultural traditions understand human relationships with nature. Drawing on philosophy, literature, religion, the arts, and environmental thought, she encourages students to examine assumptions about knowledge, experience, embodiment, and the relationship between humans and the more-than-human world.

Adams also directs the Philosophy, Art, Nature, and Religion in Italy Global Seminar, an immersive, site-based program that brings philosophical inquiry into conversation with art, landscape, religious traditions, and lived experience. Her current scholarship explores phenomenology and environmental thought, revelation and receptivity, gender and religious authority, philosophical pedagogy, and emerging questions about artificial intelligence, interpretation, and knowledge.
