Lamiyah Bahrainwala (or LB) specializes in rhetorics of gender, anti-Muslim sentiment, feminist surveillance studies, and race. Her published work examines bizarre iterations of transnational anti-Muslim sentiment and anti-Blackness in mediated texts. Her articles appear in leading journals, including Quarterly Journal of Speech,ÌýCommunication, Culture and Critique,Ìýand Journal of International and Intercultural Communication,Ìýin addition to creative venues. Her research has been recognized with the 2022 Ìýand a National Communication Association Distinguished Scholarship Award, among others.

LBÌýhas a PhD in Communication Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, an MA in Rhetoric from Michigan State University, and a BA in English from the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, where she grew up.Ìý
