Employment Information

During the academic year, there may be opportunities for temporary employment in academic support units within the division of academic affairs and office of the provost. These may include the following limited term positions:

  • Instructional Associates: CU Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº employees hired to teach on a course-by-course basis when their appointment meets or exceeds 50% full-time equivalent (FTE). This role provides a benefits-eligible pathway for temporary teaching faculty while ensuring campus compliance with CU System policy. Instructional Associates may hold graduate degrees and/or possess advanced professional experience in their field. Appointments are at-will, temporary, and time-limited to three continuous calendar yearsÌýonce the Instructional Associate title is first applied. The position addresses short-term instructional needs, and the pay ranges vary among units and semester, and range from $1,068 to $7,750 per course, depending upon the type of course, number of credit hours, and length of term.
    • Note: Instructional Associate appointments apply only at CU Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº.
  • Temporary Faculty (Lecturer): Hired to teach on a course-by-course basis, qualified to teach in a particular discipline. The pay ranges for Lecturers vary among units and semester and range from $1,068 to $7,750 per course, depending upon the type of course, number of credit hours, and length of term.
  • Temporary Faculty Fellows: Faculty Fellow roles in the CU Âé¶¹Ó°Ôº Writing CenterÌýare part-time, semester-based appointments (25–50% FTE). These positions coach writing instruction across the university. Compensation can range from $5,380 per semester at 25% time, to approximately $6,330 per semester at 25% time, with pay scaling based on qualifications and FTE. Openings are contingent on staffing needs each term and are not ongoing appointments.
  • Student Employment: On-campus hourly or work-study positions.The range of pay for this type of position is $16-$32 per hour.
  • Student Faculty: Teaching Assistant, Research Assistant, Graduate Assistant, Graduate Part-Time Instructor The rates of pay for these positions can be found at /graduateschool/faculty-staff/funding-administration
