Applied Math Tutor List
Tutors on this list are not affiliated with the department or the university as tutors, and we cannot recommend anyone on this list over anyone else.Ìý
HELPFUL HINTS: When hiring a private tutor, check the individual's credentials. Questions that should be asked include: 1) What are your credentials? 2) Where are you currently enrolled or teaching? 3) What do you charge? Be sure to verify the individual's enrollment or employment through a phone call. Please be cautious. Do not schedule tutoring sessions at your residence. (Do not even provide your home address.) Arrange for tutoring sessions to take place where others are present, such as in a library or some other well-lighted and well-populated location. Finally, do not permit someone else to do your academic work for you, as that is a violation of the CU-Â鶹ӰԺ Student Honor Code.

Will Suan Hi! I’m a grad student in Applied Math. I recently graduated from UT Austin, where I studied pure and applied math and physics and completed 10 graduate courses. I have 1.5 years of experienceÌýtutoring undergraduatesÌýand have volunteered teaching math in prisons. Research-wise, my interests are computational math and physics. I love making math more interesting, whether that’s through showing studentsÌýawesome YouTube videosÌýor talking about the fascinatingÌýhistory of math and science. I preferÌýhighlyÌývisual approaches to math.Ìý I prioritize building a relationship with a student who is a good fit, so the first session is always free.ÌýI take on a limited number of students each semester so I can give each student consistent attention. I prefer to meet primarily in person, with Zoom sessions available as well.Ìý | william.suan+tutoring@gmail.com or 917-242-8832 (text only!) | All undergraduate applied mathematics courses, lower-division CS, physics, and chemistry. | $25-35/hr |
