Seniors dropping a degree after the deadline and during their graduation semester should work with their academic advisor and submit an Drop Applicationprior to graduation.

| Term | IUT Application Opens | Priority Consideration Deadline | Final Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Summer | Feb. 15 | March 1 | May 10 |

Dates and Deadlines
The date you complete an IUT Application may impact your tuition and/or graduation timeline.
Submit an IUT Change/Add Application by the Priority Consideration Deadline for full consideration and the chance to enroll in restricted courses (when available). Admission is not guaranteed and is based on Requirements and space availability.
If you miss the Priority Consideration Deadline, you may still apply by the Final Deadline for the given semester. No exceptions are made for missing the deadline.
Submit an IUT Drop Application if you are pursuing degrees in at least two different academic programs. The Drop Application may be submitted until the IUT Drop Deadline for the current term (see the Academic Calendar). Seniors completing an application to drop a program they will not complete before graduation should meet with their academic advisor.
Understand The Admissions Process
When you submit your , you’ll see a confirmation page and receive a confirmation email (at your CU 鶹ӰԺ email address) verifying receipt of your application. You’ll receive additionalstatus updates by email during the IUT process. Application processing times vary. Do not resubmit your IUT Application unless directed.
If you do notreceive a confirmation email, there may have been an error with your submission. If you have questions, please refer to IUT Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) webpage or email IUT@colorado.edu.
There are four main IUT Application statuses. Refer to the following definitions and check your @colorado.edu email for updates.
"Accepted" students are granted admission into their intended college, school or program.
Eligibility is determined on a space-available basis for students who:
- Apply by the IUT Priority Consideration Deadline or the IUT Final Deadline
- Meet all IUT course, grade and GPA requirements
Prospective IUT students who are On Track are eligible to register for restricted courses (when available) during their assigned registration windows.
Eligibility is determined on a space-available basis to students who:
- Apply by the IUT Priority Consideration Deadline
- Meet all On Track requirements and/or other course/grade/GPA requirements
“On Track” IUT Applications are reviewed at the end of the semester, after grades post to transcripts:
- Students who continue to meet all IUT requirements, will have their application status changed to “Accepted” at the end of the semester.
- Students who do not meet all requirements, will have their Application status changed to “Denied” at the end of the semester, and will be notified if they will be removed from restricted courses.
Please note "On Track" application status is not available for the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Music, Program in Exploratory Studies and the School of Education.
"Deferred" is a status indicating a student’s application will be held for review until after grades officially post to transcripts at the end of the semester. “Deferred” applicationsare not eligible for the course registration for restricted courses.
“Deferred” status is determined on a space-available basis to students who meet one or all of the following conditions:
- Apply after the IUT Priority Consideration Deadline, but before the IUT Final Deadline
- Do not currently meet the "On Track" or “Accepted” eligibility criteria but might by the end of the current semester
- Apply for a college, school or program that no longer has available space
"Denied" is a status declining admission into a student’s intended academic program. Students who receive a “Denied” status may apply in a future semester as long as they remain eligible for their intended IUT college, school or program.
“Denied” status is determined on a space-available basis to students who meet one, or all, of the following conditions:
- Does not (or will not) meet all course, grade andGPA requirements by the end of the semester
- Apply for a college, school or program that no longer has available space
To be accepted into a college, school or program, students must meet the IUT requirements and space must be available. Students may apply for multiple academic programs by the posted deadlines using the IUT application. If your current application to your preferred academic program is on track or deferred, consider applying for a parallel program. Please discuss your options with your current academic advisor.
Please note that applying to two different programs may result in your admission to one program but not the other based on requirements and space availability.
When applying to two colleges, allow 1-2 hours between the first and second application. You can use the application to indicate your first and second choices. If you do not complete this step, you may be contacted to confirm your preferences.
Review Your Final Application Decision
You can receive a decision any time after you submit an . If you were granted "On Track" or "Deferred" status at the time of submission, check back after grades are submitted for the term, to receive your final admissions decision of "Accepted" or "Denied."
Congratulations! Your new academic program will inform you of next steps.
Continue to meet with your current assigned academic advisor for petitions, even though your major change is reflected in Buff Portal and Buff Portal Advising.
There are many options at the 鶹ӰԺ. Reach out to your current academic advisor to discuss next steps or a parallel degree plan.
