We believe the best version of the future starts with creating an AI-literate workforce. With our blend of multidisciplinary expertise from six institutions, co-design work with teachers and students, work with young people on their dreams for AI in classrooms, and more, we are uniquely suited to make strategic impacts that integrate research, education, knowledge transfer, and workforce development.

Specifically, we pursue sixÌýstrategic impacts that are organized into three focal areas designed to advance national priorities in artificial intelligence, technology literacy, and workforce readiness.

Educational Outreach and Broadening Participation: Leading our nation towards a future where all students routinely engage in rich and rewarding collaborative learning by working in teams composed of bothÌýstudents and AI Partners.

• Nurturing Next-Generation Talent: We are actively cultivating the future workforce of researchers, students, and tech experts. By providing robust opportunities at all educational levels, we empower individuals to learn about and experiment with advanced AI systems.
• Expanding Community Reach: We connect with a vast network of students, educators, and community stakeholders through innovative STEM and AI literacy programs. This ensures that a broad population is fully prepared to thrive in an AI-enhanced future.

Multidisciplinary, Multi-organizational Community Building:ÌýThrough internal meetings, community events and trainings, we raise awareness of the different facets of our research, drive greater participation in our programs; and develop stronger relationships and collaboration between our members.

• Multi-Disciplinary Integration: We break down academic silos by driving deep collaboration across more than 15 distinct fields of study. This integration ensures that our research and technical developments are continually informed by multifaceted expert viewpoints.
• Multi-Organizational Synergies: We formalize and deepen strategic connections among our nationwide academic, school district, and industry partners. Our collaborative network builds collective, multi-layered expertise to solve complex educational challenges.

Knowledge Mobilization & Nexus Point for Collaborative Efforts:ÌýTo function as a nexus point forÌýAI-supported collaborative learning, the Institute links multiple nationally-distributed organizations together through our three core research strands to integrate foundational and use-inspired AI research.

• Knowledge Mobilization: We are dedicated to the widespread distribution and practical application of our research discoveries. We rapidly translate our findings and technical tools into actionable resources for academic communities, educational practitioners, and the general public.
• Collaborative Efforts: We serve as a national hub that brings together researchers, educators, and industry leaders. We empower stakeholders to collectively envision, co-create, and deploy student-AI teaming technologies at a national scale.
