Knowledge Mobilization & Nexus Point for Collaborative Efforts
Knowledge Mobilization & Nexus Point for Collaborative Efforts
We focus on translating our internal research and technical breakthroughs into widespread academic and real-world applications. Driven by our Nexus Hub, this focal area bridges foundational AI science with the practical needs of society through two distinct strategic impacts:
Impact 1: Widespread Knowledge Transfer
We broadly disseminate our research findings and technological milestones across academic, professional, and public communities. To maximize real-world utility, we customize our approach across four primary audiences:
- Research Communities: We share discoveries with academic peers through a high volume of scholarly publications and by leading interdisciplinary workshops designed to forge new fields in artificial intelligence and education.
- Communities of Practice: For educators, knowledge transfer is a continuous, bi-directional loop. We drive advanced professional learning through providing open-access tools, curricular materials, and workshops. We intentionally build practitioner networks nationwide.
- Communities of Interest: We engage industry partners and policymakers by demonstrating our privacy-preserving technologies and collaborating to embed our AI architecture into existing educational platforms and to contribute to the development of state-level AI roadmaps.
- The General Public: We actively socialize our vision for collaborative learning with the broader public through digital channels, insights from our blog, and community outreach events.
Impact 2: The Nexus Hub as a National Scaling Engine
The iSAT Nexus Hub functions as a vital bridge between foundational AI research and the everyday needs of schools and society. Operating through a bi-directional "Connector Model," the Hub scales our scientific portfolio nationally through two primary themes: K-12 Practice and Policy and Socializing the Science of Student-AI Teaming.
Key Initiatives & Activities:
- A Dual-Route Scaling Strategy:
- Systemic: Testing how comprehensive, multi-week AI-enhanced curricula can drive district-wide policy updates and institutional culture shifts.
- Flexible: "Unbundling" complex systems into modular, low-stakes instructional routines or "plays" that encourage rapid, teacher-led adoption without requiring heavy administrative overhauls.
- Industry & Technology Integration: Building strategic partnerships with major educational technology providers to embed our technological solutions into their offerings.
