Our Mission

Our Mission

  • To develop foundational knowledge (theories, AI models, and know-how) for creating next generation collaborative learning environments composed of student-AI teams.
  • To grow a workforce that can harness AI to advance STEM and AI Literacy education by engaging 25,000 K-12 students and their teachers in innovative STEM and AI Literacy education through the science of student-AI teaming.
  • To scale as a national nexus for supporting a broad set of stakeholders—researchers, K-12 students and educators, district leaders, community members, and industry affiliates—to envision, co-create, critique, and apply student-AI teaming more broadly.

How We Are Accomplishing This

  • We have integrated more than 30 researchers from 15 research areas to engage in foundational and use-inspired research in AI-enhanced-curriculum development; design and rapid prototyping; data curation and annotation; algorithm development; experimentation and evaluation; and community resource development.
  • We are integrating AI-education in STEM/Science and AI Literacy courses to provide measurable learning outcomes.
  • We are providing unprecedented interdisciplinary training of students and early-career scholars.
  • We are engaging a large community during all phases of the research.
  • We have identified six strategic impacts, which keep us on the path to achieving our goals.Â
